Stowe Australia transforms operations with Autodesk cloud tech

Mon, 9th Sep 2024

Australia's largest privately-owned electrical and communications contractor, Stowe Australia, has embarked on its most extensive technology roll-out to date by adopting the Autodesk Construction Cloud. This business-wide cloud construction solution aims to enhance agility, collaboration, and data-driven efficiencies.

Stowe Australia has integrated the Autodesk Construction Cloud to facilitate 'data beyond the project level,' marking a significant technological advancement for the company. According to Matt Fern, Digital Engineering Manager at Stowe Australia, the implementation addresses a critical need to centralise knowledge and make it accessible across teams.

“Stowe has built an industry reputation for service excellence in its 100-year history. A lot of this has been built on the knowledge gained by our employees – many of whom have worked for the company for years,” said Mr Fern. “While project data was being shared within the company, it was often done manually, relying on the memory and experience of employees. There was a business need to take this siloed knowledge and make it accessible across teams. This led us to explore Autodesk Construction Cloud as a solution."

He further added, "Companies of our size simply have to learn how to leverage their data better, or they’ll become redundant. We want everyone in the company to be using this – we want everyone to be in the same sandpit.”

Sumit Oberoi, Senior Manager of APAC Construction Strategy & Partnerships at Autodesk Construction Cloud, expressed enthusiasm about supporting Stowe in adopting the new platform. “We are thrilled to support Stowe with the adoption and implementation of the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform to create better project efficiencies, and to connect workflows, teams and data at each stage. This ultimately is helping them to reduce risk, maximise efficiencies and increase profits,” said Mr Oberoi.

Stowe Australia has been using Autodesk technology since 2005 and began the adoption of Autodesk Construction Cloud in 2021. The transition was aided by ARKANCE, the firm's implementation partner, which helped create a proof of concept. This proof of concept ran for approximately 12 months with a select group within the business. Their positive feedback and testimonial were crucial for the wider adoption of the platform across the company.

Mr Fern highlighted the transformation achieved through the new cloud solution. “In the past, Stowe had not consistently applied learnings from its project data to its wider business. On each project, employees had used several point solutions in their individual areas, creating data silos. Autodesk Construction Cloud is now helping us achieve the agility and collaboration of a cloud-based solution while centralising the ‘source of truth’.”

He concluded by stressing the platform's benefits, stating, "One of the biggest benefits of the platform has been the ability for our teams to leverage data as part of a Common Data Environment. This has given us the ability to create efficiencies across our project operations.”
