Samsung unveils 2024 monitor lineup: gaming & smart models

Samsung has introduced its 2024 lineup of gaming monitors, smart monitors and professional monitors, aiming to cater to gamers, entertainment enthusiasts, and creative professionals alike. The new releases include the Odyssey OLED G8 and G6, the Smart Monitor M8, M7, and M5 models, and the ViewFinity S8, S7, and S6 series.

The Odyssey OLED series introduces advanced OLED technology, enhanced AI capabilities, and proprietary burn-in prevention features. The Odyssey OLED G8 is a 32-inch 4K UHD monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms grey-to-grey (GtG) response time, designed for ultra-smooth gameplay. The Odyssey OLED G6 offers a 27-inch QHD screen, a 360Hz refresh rate, and the same rapid response time.

Both models feature Samsung’s OLED Safeguard+, designed to prevent burn-in through a pulsating heat pipe and a Dynamic Cooling System, reducing core temperature significantly. "The Odyssey OLED G8 and OLED G6 both deliver unmatched OLED picture quality with a brightness of 250 nits," states the press release, while also noting the incorporation of FreeSync Premium Pro to eliminate choppiness, screen lag, and tearing.

The Smart Monitor series introduces the M8 model, equipped with improved AI features for enhanced entertainment and productivity. The M8, a 32-inch 4K UHD monitor, includes an NQM AI processor for advanced audio-visual experiences. Noteworthy features include the Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which optimises dialogue by analysing background noise, and the 360 Audio Mode, which pairs with Galaxy Buds for immersive sound.

The M7 model also offers a 32-inch 4K UHD display with a brightness of 300 nits. The M5 is available in both 32 and 27 inches, boasting FHD resolution and a brightness of 250 nits. A new Workout Tracker connectable to Galaxy Watches further integrates health monitoring into the Smart Monitor lineup.

The ViewFinity series targets professionals and creatives, providing improved connectivity and ease of setup. The ViewFinity S8, in 27 and 32 inches, comes with 4K UHD resolution and HDR10, ensuring accurate colour representation with support for displaying 1 billion colours. It also features an Easy Setup Stand that can be assembled quickly without tools.

The ViewFinity S8 additionally includes a KVM switch for easy connection between multiple devices and a USB-C port that supports up to 90W charging. The ViewFinity S7 offers similar specifications but excludes the KVM switch feature. Lastly, the ViewFinity S6, available in 24, 27, and 32 inches, comes with QHD resolution and a refresh rate of 100Hz. It also features a USB hub and a height-adjustable stand.

The introduction of the 2024 lineups highlights Samsung's continued innovation in the monitor space. Samsung aims to meet diverse user needs from gaming to professional environments.
