Okta names Christian Rota ANZ director of partnerships

Tue, 3rd Mar 2026

Okta has appointed Christian Rota as Director of Partnerships and Strategic Alliances for Australia and New Zealand, creating a dedicated regional lead for its channel and alliance strategy.

Based in Australia, Rota will manage relationships with systems integrators, consultancies and technology partners across both countries. His role is to expand partner activity around identity and access management as organisations reassess security models for cloud and AI.

Okta positions identity as a core security control, particularly as employees, contractors, customers and software processes generate more access requests across multiple systems. In this environment, partners often handle the design, deployment and ongoing operations for large customers.

Okta ANZ vice president and general manager Mike Reddie linked the appointment to local demand and the growing role of partners in delivery.

"Partners play a critical role in how we deliver for customers across Australia and New Zealand, and Christian brings the experience and leadership needed to strengthen that ecosystem," Reddie said.

Reddie also pointed to shifts in infrastructure and the threat landscape affecting customer priorities for identity projects.

"As organisations navigate cloud, AI and an increasingly complex threat environment, identity has become a foundational control. Our partners help customers design, implement and operate securely at scale. Christian's deep AWS experience and Partner First approach will help us build a stronger, more connected ecosystem and deliver real outcomes for customers across ANZ," he said.

Partner strategy

Rota will lead a partner-first approach in the region, strengthening alliances and building a collaborative ecosystem that treats partners as an extension of the local Okta team.

Okta has increasingly relied on partners to extend its reach into industry verticals and to deliver adjacent services around identity systems. Systems integrators and consultancies also help integrate identity products with customer applications and existing security tools.

Rota described the role as a growth lever for the region, driven by partner engagement and execution in customer accounts.

"A Partner First approach is the critical driver of growth and customer success in ANZ," Rota said.

He added that partners are taking on a more advisory role as organisations broaden the range of identities requiring governance.

"It's a great time to be an Okta partner. As organisations look to secure every identity, partners are positioned as trusted advisors. My focus is on building a world-class ecosystem where our partners are empowered to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers," he said.

AWS background

Rota brings more than 20 years of experience across Asia Pacific and Japan. He joins Okta after eight years at Amazon Web Services, where he worked on partner initiatives.

At AWS, he built and scaled regional partner programmes and increased partner data ingest and revenue tenfold, according to Okta. The experience aligns with Okta's focus on growth through indirect channels and structured alliances, as enterprise buying groups increasingly consider implementation and managed services alongside software purchases.

The appointment also highlights the importance of the ANZ market in Okta's broader partner plans. Global software companies have been refining channel coverage across Australia and New Zealand as customers pursue hybrid environments, expand SaaS portfolios and manage rising compliance and cyber risk expectations.

Global leadership

Rota's arrival follows a senior global hire earlier this year, with Laura Padilla appointed SVP of Global Partners and Alliances. Okta has framed the move as part of a wider effort to strengthen partner operations and expand partner-led revenue.

Padilla has more than 20 years of experience in partner ecosystems. She joined from Freshworks and previously led global partner and platform sales at Zoom during a period of rapid growth in the collaboration market.

Okta chief revenue officer Jon Addison said her remit is to increase partner-led revenue and strengthen the company's relationship with its channel community.

"Laura's core strength in driving incremental, partner-led revenue makes her the ideal leader to accelerate our partner organization's next phase of expansion. Her role is crucial to ensuring the company can deliver maximum customer value hand-in-hand with partners," Addison said.

Okta said the regional and global appointments reflect its ongoing focus on strengthening partner engagement as organisations in Australia and New Zealand invest in identity and security modernisation programmes.
