Dropbox, Leader launch AI-powered Dash to boost Aussie partners

Mon, 24th Nov 2025

Dropbox has expanded its approach to artificial intelligence (AI) rollout in Australia by partnering with Leader, which has become the first distributor in the region to complete Dropbox's Early Adopter Programme for Dropbox Dash. Dash is an AI-powered universal search and productivity tool positioned to improve context-aware intelligence across business teams and workflows.

AI rollout challenges

While interest in AI solutions continues to grow in the Australian market, many organisations are facing barriers to realising value from their investments. A significant issue is the lack of structured training, resulting in most AI projects stalling early. Recent research highlights that 95% of AI initiatives in Australia do not advance beyond the pilot phase, often due to a lack of practical skills and understanding among users rather than technology shortcomings.

Train-the-trainer approach

Dropbox aims to address this knowledge gap through its Early Adopter Programme, adopting a consultative train-the-trainer model. This initiative focuses on giving partners hands-on skills and AI fluency before they deploy tools to end customers, with the goal of supporting businesses to progress from experimentation to measurable productivity improvements.

"Rolling out AI in a business context is vastly different from individual use. What's exciting about our program is that we're helping partners and customers move beyond experimentation to powering real productivity. We do this by embedding Dash into the context of teams - so that it becomes a context-aware AI teammate that understands you, your work, and your team's work," said Luke Simmons, Head of APAC, Dropbox.

Partner enablement

Leader, the first Australian distributor to market Dropbox Dash, is implementing enablement sessions across the country. The company has developed a framework that assists partners in maximising the benefits of Dropbox Dash and collaborates closely with Dropbox to familiarise resellers with best practices and various use cases. These sessions aim to support resellers in making the transition from managing basic IT services to offering advisory and consultative support.

"It's not just about selling AI - it's about helping businesses use it effectively. We're building long-term capability in the channel through a consultative, train-the-trainer approach. Partners are discovering new use cases and unlocking productivity gains that go far beyond traditional MSP services," said Hanh Tran, Cloud Business Manager, Leader.

Functional highlights

According to early partner feedback, Dash's appeal lies in its universal search capability, format-agnostic integration, and context-aware features. The tool allows users to connect multiple work applications so they can locate a wide range of content, from documents and videos to chat conversations, across platforms such as Slack, Teams, Canva, and Zoom. Dash additionally brings together multimedia signals, supporting search across PDFs, presentations, images, audio, and video without the need to switch between applications or duplicate data.

The Model Context Protocol enables Dash to connect securely to user tools and data, while privacy and compliance controls are built in to support responsible adoption. The product is designed to facilitate a workspace environment where files, updates, and relevant links are organised in one accessible location, with Dash able to provide answers tailored to each workspace.

Sector implications

The partnership is not only helping technology resellers offer new solutions but also aiding a shift in the sector from break-fix IT support towards more strategic consultancy and long-term customer engagement. The program has been identified as opening new revenue channels for partners and expanding their service offerings.

Dash is currently available to partners and resellers in Australia for further rollout.
