ActiveImage lands in Australia with new Sydney office
Tue, 22nd May 2018
FYI, this story is more than a year old

ActiveImage, a provider of disk imaging backup and system disaster recovery solutions, has officially launched in Australia with a new office opening up in North Sydney today.

Spearheading the launch of the company is former StorageCraft APAC vice president, Richard Giddey, who has been named as ActiveImage vice president for the Asia Pacific region.

The company says it has employed highly qualified senior staff and is already in the final stages of negotiating its first distribution agreement.

Giddey says ActiveImage is particularly looking at growing its local MSP partner base.

“We are also recruiting local MSP partners, with the first to be announced shortly. Currently we have four large MSPs running proof of concepts (POCs),” Giddey says.

ActiveImage solutions utilise sector-based disk imaging backup and virtualisation technologies.

According to Giddey, the company's biggest differentiator from other data protection vendors is its vStandby, ImageBoot and hyper-V host backup solution with ReZoom it!

vStandby creates and maintains dormant Virtual Standby Replicas (VSR) of physical or virtual source machines on Hyper-V or VMware virtual environments.

According to ActiveImage, its ImageBoot solution assures business continuity and testing recoverability of backups or sandbox instantly into VMware WorkStation, VMware Player, VMware Player Pro, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Client Hyper-V and Oracle VirtualBox.

ReZoom it! restores multiple or individual VMs to the same host or to a different Hyper-V host on new or different hardware. The solution is also designed to save storage space through deduplication across all VMs with sector-based inline data deduplication compression (IDDC), which is performed on-the-fly across all VMs on a Hyper-V host.

ActiveImage says this reduces storage space requirements by up to 70%, with minimal impact on backup and restore times.

The company's ActiveImage Protector solution also supports MS cluster service and failover clustering.
