Acer unveils Predator Triton 14 AI laptop with graphene cooling

Today

Acer has introduced a new 14-inch gaming laptop, the Predator Triton 14 AI, equipped with artificial intelligence features, advanced cooling technology, and targeting both gamers and creative professionals.

The Predator Triton 14 AI is powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 288V, a chip built on newly optimised hybrid architecture, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. According to Acer, it is the first laptop in the industry to use graphene thermal interface materials (TIM) on the CPU, which the company states aids in cooling as compared to traditional thermal grease. The new laptop also features a Calman Verified OLED display with finger-based touch support, a Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad that supports haptic feedback, and integrated pen support.

With its lightweight 1.6 kg aluminium chassis and a thickness of 17.31 mm at the thickest point, the Predator Triton 14 AI is designed for portability without compromising performance. The device is finished with an anti-fingerprint coating on both chassis and screen, while a polished silver hinge at the back has a diamond cut treatment showing iridescent colours from different viewing angles.

An Acer spokesperson explained the approach to its design and user focus: "Acer's highly portable 14.5-inch laptop combines high-performance components with compelling features wrapped in a minimalist, streamlined design, making it a versatile laptop ideal for those seeking a lightweight yet powerful and understated device for work and play. Specifically, creative professionals, content creators, gamers and higher education students will appreciate the portability, raw power and novel capabilities it brings to their workflows."

The laptop's OLED WQXGA+ display offers a native resolution of 2880 x 1800 with 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut support, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 1 ms response time. The screen supports finger touch input, which Acer says enhances user interaction with simple gestures such as zooming, swiping, scrolling, and switching between tasks. The company points out that these features are especially useful for creative professionals to improve workflow productivity.

For content creators, the Predator Triton 14 AI is configurable with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe storage. The NVIDIA Studio drivers and DLSS 4 technology are integrated to optimise creative workflows and ensure stability in applications such as video editing, 3D rendering, and livestreaming. The device also classifies as a Copilot+ PC, providing experiences like real-time translation via Live Captions and AI-powered image creation in Microsoft Paint, depending on software availability.

The input system includes a large, button-less haptic Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad, designed to enhance the typing experience and support a bundled active stylus. The stylus supports AES 2.0, USI 2.0, and MPP 2.5 protocols with 4,096 pressure levels, tilt support, and a 10-450 g pen tip force. Acer highlights that the haptics simulate tactile sensations for physical feedback when pressed, and can be customised according to user preference, aiding in AI tool interaction for artists and designers.

On the thermal management front, the Predator Triton 14 AI's use of graphene TIM on the CPU is cited by Acer as an industry first, resulting in a 14.5% increase in thermal capacity compared to traditional materials. Two 6th Gen AeroBlade 3D metal fans, featuring 0.05 mm blades, reportedly increase airflow by 20% relative to plastic fans. The AeroBlade cooling system is complemented by the Vortex Flow system and a vapour chamber for efficient heat dissipation among critical components.

The laptop is equipped with Human Presence Detection using an AI Vision Sensor in its webcam. This feature enables the device to detect when someone is present, automatically activating certain functions such as logging in, waking the system, dimming the screen, or locking when unattended.

Additional features include a customisable per-key RGB keyboard, real-time system control via PredatorSense, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 for high-speed connectivity, Thunderbolt 4 for fast data transfer and charging, and a range of bundled software such as PC Game Pass for three months. For ports, the laptop offers USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A and Type-C), HDMI 2.1, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Audio is delivered through DTS:X Ultra with a six-speaker setup, and the full HD IR camera supports Windows Hello login.

The Predator Triton 14 AI will be available in Australia in the third quarter of 2025, with pricing yet to be announced.
