Splend named one of Australia's Best Places to Work for 2024
Splend, Australia's largest electric vehicle (EV) fleet operator, has been recognised as one of the Best Places to Work for 2024. The acknowledgment highlights the company's commitment to employee satisfaction and a positive workplace culture.
The Australian's Best Places to Work 2024 awards named Splend among the top 10 medium-sized businesses and highly commended the company as the best place to work for disabled employees. The awards, derived from anonymous employee surveys, assess companies on various factors, including work-life balance, career development opportunities, and overall job satisfaction.
Splend, which employs 90 people across Australia, distinguished itself in the transportation and logistics sector through its innovative approach to employee engagement and sustainability initiatives. CEO Chris King expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "Our people are the heart of Splend and the driving force behind our success. We've always believed that by creating an environment where our team feels valued, empowered, and supported, we can achieve extraordinary things together."
Sustainability played a critical role in Splend's high ranking. The company is at the forefront of the transition to electric vehicles, benefiting both its customers and employees. Splend's unique Novated Lease programme offers staff discounted access to electric vehicles, contributing 15% of the monthly repayments and providing a total discounted benefit exceeding 50% off the overall vehicle operating costs.
Chris King noted, "We're not just talking about sustainability; we're living it. By making it easier for our team to drive electric vehicles, we're aligning our internal practices with our broader mission of reducing the carbon footprint of transportation."
Pavithran Bandari, a member of the Adelaide Splend team, highlighted the impact of the novated leasing programme. "The savings are incredible. Through this programme, I'm paying AUD $500 less monthly than I would have otherwise. Splend's unique Employee Benefits scheme contributes 15% to my monthly payments. When you add in the tax benefits of the novated lease, that's a game-changer for my budget," he said.
Bandari added, "What stands out is how this programme makes luxury cars accessible. I'm now driving a brand-new Tesla Model 3, something I never thought I could afford. And with an interest rate of around 6-7%, it's far better than the 15% other lenders offered. It's simple, saves us money, and makes quality vehicles accessible. I couldn't be happier with the programme or more grateful to work for a company that offers such fantastic benefits."
Other initiatives contributing to Splend's recognition include annual conferences and regular team events to foster connection and strategic alignment, monthly activities and office perks, including a day off for employees' birthdays, transparent goal-setting and performance tracking, professional development opportunities through a curated online learning platform, and a strong emphasis on internal promotions and career advancement.
This recognition coincides with Splend's expansion efforts and innovative approaches to transforming vehicle ownership and operation. The company's focus on electric vehicles and sustainable transportation solutions positions it as a leader in both workplace culture and environmental responsibility.
"Being named one of Australia's Best Places to Work is a tremendous honour. It's a testament to our incredible team and the culture we've built together. Our commitment to our people will remain at the core of everything we do as we continue to grow and evolve," said Chris King.
