Cloudera launches AI assistant to boost data governance

Today

Cloudera has announced the launch of Cloudera Copilot, a new AI assistant integrated into its platform to aid data practitioners in enhancing efficiency and governance.

The introduction of Cloudera Copilot comes as Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in Australia and New Zealand increasingly prioritise cybersecurity investments, with 88% indicating a focus in this area for the coming year. By offering an embedded AI assistant, Cloudera aims to assist data practitioners in writing high-quality and consistent code, aligning with stringent data management practices.

Keir Garrett, Regional Vice President for Cloudera Australia and New Zealand, commented on the regulatory landscape and the tool's role, saying, "As Australian business leaders navigate evolving AI regulations amidst the rise in data breaches, they must invest in tools that facilitate effective management of GenAI projects within secure, enterprise-grade environments. Cloudera Copilot not only streamlines AI workflows but also enhances collaboration and trust in data — by ensuring compliance with data governance standards, it empowers organisations to leverage their data effectively. This focus on productivity and transparency positions businesses to fully harness their data's potential, driving innovation and growth in a rapidly changing digital landscape."

The new AI assistant aims to address challenges faced by data practitioners, aiding productivity and collaboration within secure AI-enhanced environments. Cloudera Copilot improves the reproducibility of projects, allowing enterprises to bring trusted data, analytics, and AI applications to production more swiftly.

Cloudera highlights that the Copilot is specifically designed for data practitioners, providing deep integration within existing data workflows on a platform that emphasises compliance and governance. The AI assistant delivers coding assistance, on-demand support, and robust solutions to enhance the quality of data projects.

Industry analyst Sanjeev Mohan remarked on the value of such tools, "Data practitioners are the lifeblood of an enterprise and giving them AI-powered tools specifically designed to enhance their job performance offers benefits to a business as a whole. AI assistants like Cloudera Copilot expand the scope of employees who can access AI tools so an entire organisation can capitalise fully on the benefits of AI. This unlocks greater visibility, efficiency, and productivity."

Dipto Chakravarty, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, contextualised the company's objectives with the release of Copilot, stating, "Cloudera is continuously modernising our AI solutions to give our customers deeper access to data-driven insights at scale. Today, Cloudera provides one of the fastest routes to achieving trusted AI initiatives, and Cloudera Copilot further accelerates enterprise's ability to derive business value from their data via actionable insight."

Through automating code generation and troubleshooting while providing insights and guidance, Cloudera Copilot supports coding standards and improves project outcomes, thereby reducing errors. Additionally, it assists teams in working efficiently across multiple languages, enhancing the productivity of data scientists, engineers, and developers within an organisation.
