Ricoh partners with Rimini Street for Oracle system support

Wed, 12th Jun 2024

Ricoh has selected Rimini Street to provide support and protection for its Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and Oracle Database environments. The company aims to optimise these systems while exploring a next-generation ERP strategy independent of Oracle.

Ricoh currently employs multiple Oracle EBS and Oracle Database instances to manage its transactional processes. While planning a strategic shift away from Oracle products, Ricoh sought guidance from Rimini Street to ensure the operational excellence, security, and protection of sensitive data during this transition period. "Since we had already decided to move off Oracle, our priority was maintaining and securing our current systems, not upgrading them," stated Keisuke Hamanaka, deputy general manager of Process, IT and Data Management at Ricoh.

After a comparative evaluation of various service providers, Ricoh determined that Rimini Street was uniquely positioned to meet its needs. "We concluded that Rimini Street is the only partner that can support the Japanese market with the high-quality support and protection we need, at a price that aligns with our financial goals," Hamanaka remarked. By selecting Rimini Support and Rimini Protect, Ricoh aimed to maintain its current systems effectively without the need for costly upgrades.

Rimini Street's suite of services provided Ricoh with numerous benefits. Rimini Support offers comprehensive software maintenance services tailored for Oracle EBS and Oracle Database systems. Additionally, Rimini Protect delivers Advanced Application and Middleware Security (AAMS) and Advanced Database Security (ADS), providing real-time, zero-day vulnerability protection with minimal downtime. This solution is supported by global engineers with deep expertise, ensuring Ricoh's Oracle systems operate at peak efficiency.

Hamanaka emphasised the tangible benefits of the partnership, highlighting significant cost savings. "Rimini Street offers an attractive service that has saved us hundreds of millions of yen in upgrade costs and staffs highly skilled support engineers who can cover major ERP and database systems and protect them too," he said. "We were able to divert resources from engaging in a major EBS upgrade, and save several billion yen at the same time." In addition to cost savings, the partnership also provided peace of mind with robust security measures for Ricoh's critical data.

Rimini Protect stands out for its proactive, personalised approach to software security. The service includes protection against known and unknown threats, rapid deployment of updates without requiring code changes, and a guaranteed 10-minute response time for critical cases. Furthermore, Rimini Street provides Security Vulnerability Analysis Reports (SVARs), which analyse reported security vulnerabilities and offer mitigation strategies.

"As a trusted partner to thousands of organisations across the globe, we are proud to deliver a unique combination of end-to-end IT solutions for mission-critical systems," said Gabe Dimeligio, group vice president and general manager of Rimini Protect at Rimini Street. "We empower our clients to focus their resources on projects that strengthen their competitive stance in the market, backed by the security, support, and quality Rimini Street is known for."
