The Australian Electoral Commission has entered into a five-year agreement with NEXTDC, it was announced today.

The electoral commission in currently in the progress of migrating its critical IT infrastructure from the Tuggeranong Data Center (TDC), which is managed by the Department of Human Services (DHS), to NEXTDC's C1 data center in Bruce, ACT.

The ASX listed company is the only Australia-wide DCaaS provider.

The initial contract term is for five years, NEXTDC says in a statement.

The Data Center as a Service provider says it anticipates the migration to be complete by October this year.

“NEXTDC is a trusted supplier to the Commonwealth Data Center Facilities Supplies Panel, and as the Commonwealth moves to realise the significant opportunities for technology to improve the administration of polling, NEXTDC are delighted our C1 infrastructure will be a key enabler of this transformation,” Scroggie adds.
