IBM expands in Australia with Neudesic launch initiative

Today

IBM has expanded its footprint in Australia with the launch of Neudesic, aiming to enhance businesses through Microsoft technology.

Neudesic, a global professional services firm that IBM acquired in 2022, is now entering the Australian market with a focus on providing its expertise in data and AI, cloud migration and modernisation, application development, and business strategy. The launch is anticipated to significantly impact industries including financial services, manufacturing, and energy and utilities within the ASX200.

David Ellis, Managing Partner at IBM Consulting Australia, commented, "This launch will significantly expand IBM Consulting's portfolio of targeted businesses across financial services, manufacturing, and energy and utilities in ASX200, providing an opportunity to strengthen an underserviced market."

Ellis further noted the strategic importance of Microsoft Azure, adding, "Neudesic's offerings will further advance our Microsoft Azure based hybrid cloud and data and AI strategy in Australia and support IBM Consulting in growing its expertise and skills in Microsoft. As one of the leading cloud platforms, Microsoft Azure is key to many of our clients' ability to modernise and innovate."

John Hanna, who has been appointed as the CEO of Neudesic Australia, expressed enthusiasm about the launch. He stated, "Neudesic brings deep Azure cloud, AI, data engineering and data analytics expertise to the Australian market. With this launch, the Australian customers gain a new Microsoft-pure play partner that brings more capabilities and assets to help them succeed on their digital transformation journeys."

Kunaal Kapoor, Global Executive Vice President of Neudesic, highlighted the company's goals in the region, remarking, "We're excited to launch in Australia and help enterprises leverage Microsoft technologies like Azure, Fabric and OpenAI to achieve their business goals better and faster."

Microsoft's involvement in supporting this expansion effort was reinforced by Vanessa Sorenson, Chief Partner Officer at Microsoft ANZ. She commented on the relevance of cloud computing and generative AI, saying, "With the advent of generative AI, cloud computing is booming more than ever. Microsoft itself is investing more than USD $5 billion in expanding our Australian data centres to cater for the demand, alongside our new New Zealand cloud region, and we need skilled partners to be able to help local customers leverage the opportunity hyperscale cloud creates. We're delighted to welcome Neudesic, bringing Australian businesses dedicated support to drive growth, productivity and harness the power of AI through Microsoft Azure."

Neudesic's approach in the market is defined by its focus on the intersection of people, technology, and business. The company aims to provide solutions in three broad areas. First, it offers clients access to a network of experts to tackle complex issues pertaining to AI and technology. Second, it builds solutions on Microsoft technologies that deliver results quickly. Lastly, it integrates technology with an understanding of client processes to drive business results.

Neudesic, with its significant global presence, employs over 2,500 Microsoft-certified consultants. The firm was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Irvine, California, continuing to deliver professional services across various sectors globally.
