HP launches ZBook Ultra G1a with advanced AI features

Fri, 28th Mar 2025

HP has announced the launch of its ZBook Ultra G1a laptop in Australia & New Zealand, a high-performance mobile workstation designed to enhance productivity for professionals and creatives.

The ZBook Ultra G1a features an ultra-thin and light design, complemented by a long-lasting battery that allows users to take their workflows on the move. It incorporates next-generation AI PC capabilities, which include local-AI large language modelling, generative content creation, and design engineering functionalities.

At the heart of this new device is the Ryzen AI Pro MAX processor from AMD, equipped with up to 16 "Zen 5" CPU cores, 40 RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics cores, and an AMD XDNA 2 Neural Processing Unit capable of up to 50 TOPS of AI processing. This configuration aims to provide users with seamless multitasking capabilities across a host of demanding applications.

The laptop supports up to 128GB of unified memory architecture, with the capacity to allocate up to 96GB of RAM to the GPU. This feature is particularly beneficial for professionals in fields requiring significant computational power, such as 3D design and graphics-intensive projects.

HP has equipped the ZBook Ultra G1a with its comprehensive security suite, including Wolf Security for Business. This suite enhances the device's resilience against external attacks, including threats that arise from emerging quantum cryptography.

Aman Sangar, HP ANZ Category Manager, commented on the launch, "At HP, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation to meet the evolving needs of today's professionals and the future of work. I believe that the launch of the ZBook Ultra G1a marks a significant milestone in the evolution of mobile workstations, offering an unrivaled combination of power, performance, and portability."

The ZBook Ultra G1a is designed not only for a wide range of industry professionals but also for application developers. It allows local operation of Large Language Models (LLMs) thanks to the AMD unified memory architecture, enabling software like Meta's Llama 70B and Mistral AI's Mixtral 8x7B to run on its compact 14-inch frame.

Intended for sectors such as architecture, engineering, and entertainment, the device includes the AMD XDNA 2 NPU, part of the AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO processor. This provides advanced computational capabilities tailored to modern AI features in software, facilitating enhanced workflows for creative professionals.

The laptop incorporates AI-enhanced features such as New Onlooker Detection with Screen Blur, which alerts users to potential privacy breaches and automatically blurs the display if necessary. This feature, along with the suite of tools like Windows Copilot+, is aimed at optimizing productivity and security during on-the-go operations.

The ZBook Ultra 14 G1a is part of HP's sustainable PC lineup. It is constructed with environmentally-friendly materials, featuring components like 50% recycled copper in the heat plate and 80% recycled aluminium for its covers.

The device is scheduled to be available for purchase from the 1st of April, 2025, on HP's official website, with a recommended retail price starting at AUD $3,000.
