UTS adopts Denodo platform to modernise & unify data systems

Today

The University of Technology Sydney has deployed the Denodo Platform through Atturra to enhance its data integration, management, and delivery capabilities across the institution.

The implementation of the Denodo Platform comes after a competitive tender process, with the university seeking a modern, efficient, and governed integration IT environment to support its data infrastructure goals and digital transformation initiatives.

The Denodo Platform is centred around data virtualisation, enabling users to access data from multiple sources via a logical layer without physical transfers or duplication.

The selection of Denodo allows UTS to consolidate various data functionalities onto a single platform, thereby addressing a broad range of use cases while removing the need for acquiring and maintaining multiple software solutions. This consolidation is expected to deliver improvements in platform efficiency, staff training, governance, security, and ongoing operational management.

Atturra managed the Denodo deployment at UTS, leading the tender response, working closely with university stakeholders during the evaluation phase, and configuring the platform within the university's IT environment.

Atturra will also maintain its involvement, continuing to offer advisory and delivery support in the future.

Jennifer Leech, Senior Platform Manager Integration at UTS, commented on the project: "Our goal is to make data more accessible and useful not just for IT, but for our educators, researchers, and professional staff. Denodo gives us a more flexible and sustainable way to connect our data without unnecessary complexity."

"With Atturra's support, this is an important step in creating an integrated ecosystem that enables access to data that corresponds to the fast paced and ever-changing needs of the education industry."

The deployment also highlights the expansion of Denodo's presence in the Australian market and reinforces its partnership with Atturra in delivering enterprise-grade data solutions to local institutions.

Petar Bielovich, Director Data & Analytics at Atturra, stated: "We are proud to support UTS as they modernise their integration landscape and accelerate their digital agenda. Their decision to adopt a logical data management approach reflects a growing trend among institutions looking to increase agility, reduce complexity, and maximise the value of their data."

The introduction of a unified platform at UTS is intended to future-proof the university's data operations, supporting its aim to keep pace with changing demands in the education sector while ensuring sustained operational efficiency and robust data governance.
