FedEx launches tool to streamline global import logistics
FedEx has announced the launch of its Collaborative Shipping Tool, designed to enhance the import process and boost logistics efficiency for its global customers.
The tool allows importers to participate collaboratively with shippers in the creation of Airway Bills (AWB), enabling them to confirm shipment details and coordinate pickup timings based on their availability. This collaboration aims to improve pickup success rates and reduce delays in the import journey.
In response to the projected 5.1% increase in imports in Asia for 2025, as reported by the World Trade Organisation, the tool seeks to address one of the main challenges faced by importers, namely the lack of shipment visibility and failed pickups. A study by the International Trade Centre highlights these challenges, and FedEx's new digital tool aims to provide a solution.
Salil Chari, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience at FedEx Asia Pacific, commented, "As global supply chains grow increasingly complex, businesses must adopt smarter logistics solutions to remain competitive. At FedEx, we're leading the way by leveraging digital innovation to help our customers anticipate challenges and navigate the changing marketplace. The Collaborative Shipping Tool fosters seamless collaboration between importers and shippers, allowing businesses to optimise their supply chains and reduce inefficiencies. By simplifying imports, we're not just enhancing operations—we're shaping the future of logistics."
The Collaborative Shipping Tool offers several key benefits: enhanced flexibility through the shared AWB creation process, improved shipment data accuracy, enhanced visibility with real-time insights for importers, and an improved user experience with its intuitive design, which simplifies the import process.
This digital tool is available to all FedEx import customers across regions including Asia Pacific, Europe, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Africa. It is intended to complement FedEx's existing digital solutions, such as the FedEx Import Tool.
These measures are part of FedEx's continued efforts to improve the import experience for customers and to enhance overall logistics efficiency. The company maintains its commitment to leveraging digital solutions in addressing the logistical challenges of an increasingly complex supply chain environment.
