Ethisphere recognises 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies

Thu 27 Feb 2020
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ethisphere has named technology solutions providers Accenture, Avnet, and Nokia as three of many tech companies on the 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies list.

The rankings are determined by Ethisphere’s Ethics Quotient, which draws on information from more than 200 questions on the topics of culture, diversity, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance, and value chain initiatives.

This year 132 organisations from 21 countries and 51 industries have been recognised. In addition to Accenture, Avnet and Nokia, notable technology companies on the list include arm, Canon, Dell, eBay, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Honeywell, HP, Intel, IBM, LinkedIn, Microsoft, ON Semiconductor Rockwell Automation, Sony, T Mobile, Teradata, Western Digital, and Wipro.

Avnet says this is the seventh consecutive time it has been recognised in the World’s Most Ethical Companies list, honouring the company’s commitment to ‘leading with integrity and purpose.

Avnet CEO Bill Amelio says the company is honoured to be mentioned in the list once again.

"In this critical time of transformation for our company, we're focused on doing well as a company by doing good in the world. Our core values - especially those of integrity and empathy - have guided us through our nearly 100 years in the distribution industry, and we are looking forward to embarking on our next century as a distributor and a technology solutions provider with a renewed commitment to those principles."

Accenture’s CEO Jule Sweet also commented on Accenture’s placement in the list this year.

“Being a company with the highest integrity and commitment to our core values has always been at the heart of who we are as a company and is fundamental to building trust with all of our stakeholders—including our people, our clients and our communities,” she says.

“Our fundamental belief is that businesses not only have an opportunity, but an obligation, to be a force for good in the world. This commitment is more important than ever. We are honoured to be recognised again as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.”

Nokia president and CEO Rajeev Suri says, “Our reputation is built on more than 150 years of trustworthiness and ethical business practices. This award is due to the hard work and commitment of the entire Nokia team, who ensure we put our values of trust, integrity, and social and environmental responsibility into everything we do.”

Next month, Ethisphere will host a gala dinner in New York City, where Make-A-Wish CEO, Richard K. Davis, will deliver the keynote address.  Make-A-Wish is an organisation that provides wishes to children who have been diagnosed with critical illnesses.
