Datacom launches 'game changing' National Network
Datacom has launched what it says is a 'game changer' for the Australian data center market – a national network connecting its nine data centers providing a high performance network for customers to access digital assets, infrastructure and public cloud.
Datacom says it's guaranteeing availability and throughput and customers can scale up and down on the fly, without having to maintain constant peak-level capacity and expenditure.
Customers will be able to pay a single monthly bill for site to site connectivity, on a per Mbit/sec basis.
The National Network uses 'several' third party, Tier-1 telcos and their fibre networks, enabling customers to choose which data utilises which dedicated connection, how data is routed and stored and providing 'a more consistent network experience for users, no matter where they are'.
"This means almost every aspect of a customer's IT infrastructure is customisable, producing scalable solutions in both speed and storage, and industry leading reliability and security, while also catering to state data localisation laws," Datacom says.
The network connects Datacom's entire nine data center footprint across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and West Australia and Datacom says it has a road map to roll the offering out to New Zealand for trans-Tasman access.
Datacom says the network features fully redundant connectivity capable of surviving disaster recovery events and access to additional Datacom services including core switching, edge switching, internet services and firewalls.
Glenn Scown, Datacom Systems Australia says "We are proud of what we've achieved with the National Network.
"The National Network means that customers will experience the best possible experience fromour high performance network, from almost anywhere in Australia, 24 hours a day, seven days a week," he says.
The network is scalable, running from 1Mbps to 10Gbps, offering multiple bandwidth options with burst capabilities to accommodate peak traffic volumes, and incorporates Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and VMware vCloud, as well as linking with Datacom's own Cloud Services platform.
"We think this is a fundamental game changer for the Australian data center market, and offers capabilities no one else in the market can fulfil," Scown says.
"We guarantee availability and throughput, and the support of the world's leading public cloud vendors creates a robust infrastructure that can cater to any company's need, from small business to multi-national.
