Arlo adds AI-powered audio alerts to Secure Plus in ANZ

Today

Arlo Technologies has introduced a new Advanced Audio Detection feature to its Arlo Secure Plus service in Australia and New Zealand, aiming to enhance smart home security through artificial intelligence-driven audio alerts.

The new capability, powered by Arlo Intelligence, is designed to support users of the Essential Indoor 2K and Wired Floodlight devices. It adds to Arlo's existing AI-based features by providing notifications for specific sounds, including screams, gunshots, dog barks, glass breaking, and Smoke/CO alarms.

Matthew McRae, Chief Executive Officer at Arlo, said, "Arlo continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in home security with our relentless focus on industry-first innovations. Leveraging Arlo Intelligence, a high-performance smart security AI engine with robust detection and recognition capabilities, Arlo Secure delivers a smarter, more personalised security experience that empowers quick and informed decision making."

Arlo Secure Plus, the upgraded home security plan, builds on previously introduced features such as Person Recognition, Vehicle Recognition, and Custom Detection. The integration of Advanced Audio Detection aims to allow users to quickly understand and respond to potential emergencies by providing real-time alerts for critical audio events.

The Advanced Audio Detection suite includes several specific capabilities. Scream Detection triggers an immediate alert when a camera detects a scream, enabling swift action if necessary. Gunshot Detection issues a notification upon hearing gunfire, prompting users to view live video of the event. Dog Bark Detection sends an alert when a dog barks, allowing users to determine if the reaction is to a genuine threat or a benign cause such as a neighbour's pet. Glass Break Detection informs users when the sound of glass breaking is detected, encouraging quick checks for suspicious activity and the option to notify family members at home.

Each of these audio alerts is intended to provide immediate situational awareness and support faster decision-making for homeowners. Arlo states that the new features reflect its ongoing commitment to offering proactive security tools supported by artificial intelligence.

Arlo Secure Plus users in Australia and New Zealand will have access to Advanced Audio Detection starting this month. The company provides a 30-day trial of Arlo Secure Plus with qualifying product purchases, allowing customers to explore the full range of features included in the service plan.

Arlo describes its approach as providing an intuitive and informed security experience that delivers real, tangible value to users. The company's suite of AI capabilities is designed to help individuals better understand activity in and around their homes, supporting prompt and appropriate responses to emergency situations.

The Advanced Audio Detection feature will be available alongside the existing functionalities of the Essential Indoor 2K and Wired Floodlight devices, offering expanded coverage as part of the Arlo Secure Plus service.
