Wasabi Technologies joins Australasian firms for scalable video surveillance storage
Thu, 9th Nov 2023

Wasabi Technologies, a hot cloud storage company, has announced new partnerships with leading Australasian security firms Channel Ten and Visium Networks to provide cost-effective, fast, and scalable cloud storage. This service will support the ever-increasing requirement for video surveillance across a spectrum of industries.

The use of video surveillance is on the rise, not only as a means for businesses to ensure the safety of their assets but also for various applications in areas such as disaster response, healthcare, and the provision of smart cities. The IDC’s Video Surveillance Survey 2022 revealed that a growing number of enterprises anticipate their video surveillance storage requirements will increase over the next three years. However, upgrading existing technology stacks to meet these demands can prove prohibitively costly.

“Our clients across sectors – from retail, healthcare, and banking to transport and logistics – are utilising surveillance and seeing a soaring data influx alongside increasingly strict retention policies, generating skyrocketing storage costs,” shared Andrew Moss, General Manager, Channel Ten. “Wasabi enables Channel Ten to offer our network surveillance solutions with top quality and value in cloud storage to our customers, providing reasonably priced, limitless cloud storage that can expand alongside our customers’ businesses and meet their needs as they grow."

Building on its mainstay hot cloud storage, Wasabi has recently launched the Wasabi Surveillance Cloud. This leading-edge solution allows enterprises to transfer video surveillance footage from their local storage environment straight to the cloud without curtailing their existing technology stack or running out of capacity. Unlike larger vendors, Wasabi does not charge egress fees, API call costs, or any supplementary hidden fees. This presents an almost bottomless storage alternative to support the exponential growth of video and storage needs in the surveillance industry.

“Security is a focal point for businesses across ANZ, and some of our clients operate hundreds of cameras at each of their locations, generating substantial video content 24/7,” noted Jason Farmer, Managing Director, Visium Networks. “With the Wasabi Surveillance Cloud, we don't have to worry about content being stored safely and economically, and we can readily locate the video from any camera when needed. Wasabi’s cloud storage allows us to provide the most cost-effective, high-performance storage solutions so that our customers can rest assured their data is as secure as the businesses they safeguard."

“As invoices from hyperscalers continue charging skywards and enterprises search for variant cloud storage solutions addressing their security and performance needs, the new partnership between Channel Ten and Wasabi is highly equipped to support the country's surveillance data needs in the most economical way achievable,” added Andrew Sandes, Surveillance, Media & Entertainment Sales Director, APAC, Wasabi Technologies. “Wasabi and our allies like Channel Ten and Visium Networks have substantially invested in the surveillance industry, and this cooperation propels surveillance operations onto a new plain."
