UiPath has announced a partnership with Google Cloud to launch a new AI-powered medical summarisation agent aimed at transforming healthcare processes.
The UiPath Medical Record Summarisation agent, which is currently in private preview, uses generative AI and agentic automation to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of medical document analysis. The initiative leverages Google Gemini 2.0 Flash through Vertex AI, and was developed in conjunction with top clinical professionals to meet specific industry needs.
The summarisation agent is built with UiPath Agent Builder and is designed to handle large volumes of medical records. It reduces the time taken for record summarisation from an average of 45 minutes to just a few minutes, while also improving quality and accuracy compared to manual data entry.
This development aims to increase overall efficiency for healthcare organisations by decreasing the time needed for tasks like patient referral intake and order intake, potentially saving up to 40 minutes per referral. It can also reduce the prior authorisation turn-around time by up to 50%. Furthermore, it ensures consistency and high quality in medical summaries with standardised sections and traceable data.

The UiPath Medical Record Summarisation agent provides benefits to both payer and provider organisations by facilitating quick access to accurate information from medical records. It aids in streamlining key processes such as utilisation management, appeals, referrals, order intake, and clinical trial eligibility checks. The agent has already been adopted by a major healthcare payer, who has reported a 23% faster document processing.
The solution delivers clinician-level summaries that are easy to understand, with traceable citations and an organised format, enabling quick location and review of relevant information. It also utilises state-of-the-art retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to handle unstructured medical records data, improving the speed from intake to summary completion.
The partnership with Google Cloud utilises Vertex AI, which simplifies building, deploying, and managing machine learning models. This allows UiPath customers to incorporate advanced machine learning models into business processes swiftly, without complex coding.
