FYI, this story is more than a year old

Below are the key questions we are frequently asked about our reviewing procedures and editorial policies. If anything is not completely clear, then please contact us.

How do your reviews work?

All of our reviews are independent, unbiased, and unpaid. We do not accept sponsored reviews or paid product coverage.

Our reviews focus on consumer technology and are based on genuine, hands-on testing by our reviewers. A typical review may include images, features, specifications, and a practical description of the product in everyday use. Editorial independence is central to our process, and manufacturers or PR agencies have no influence over the content, conclusions, or outcomes of our reviews.

We don't often include links in our review, but when we do, we do not receive commissions or affiliate income from them.

What type of products do you review?

We review a wide range of consumer technology products.

However, we are unable to review:

  • Software

  • Homeware

  • Large items like appliances

We also do not review business or enterprise technology, as we do not have access to the specialist environments or technical expertise required to properly evaluate complex enterprise solutions. Our reviewers are everyday consumers, testing products in real-world conditions.

Do you offer sponsored or guaranteed reviews?

No. We do not offer sponsored reviews, paid coverage, or guaranteed publication.

Submitting a product does not ensure it will be reviewed. Whether we proceed depends on reviewer availability, product relevance, and editorial scheduling. Where possible, we will keep you informed if we are unable to proceed and explain why.

Can brands influence or approve review content?

No. All reviews are written independently and brands have no editorial control.

We do not provide draft approval, content sign-off, link placement guarantees, or call-to-action inclusions. All editorial decisions - including images, tone, conclusions, and linking - are made solely by our editorial team.

Which publications do you accept review products for?

We consider reviews for a range of our brands, including:

Placement is determined by editorial relevance and audience suitability.

What are the timeframes for product loans and publishing?

Review loan periods are typically two to four weeks, although shorter timeframes may be considered on request.

Publishing timelines can vary depending on editorial schedules and reviewer availability, and articles may be published shortly after the loan period concludes.

Can I see examples of recent reviews?

Yes. All of our published reviews can be found here, listed in reverse chronological order.

What happens to the reviewed product?

In many cases, products with a retail value under $500 may be retained by TechDay or the reviewer.

If a product needs to be returned, this should be clearly agreed upon in advance. Return shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the submitter unless otherwise agreed.

Which countries do you accept review products from?

Our reviewers are based in Australia and New Zealand.

Products can be sent from anywhere in the world, provided that all freight, customs, duties, and clearance fees are covered by the submitter.

How do I submit a product for review?

To submit a request for consideration, please complete the form here.

Once submitted:

  • Our review coordinator will log the product in our tracking system

  • The product will be circulated to suitable reviewers

  • If accepted, you will be provided with courier details for shipment

Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee coverage.
