Survey reveals mixed trust in AI between Apple & OpenAI

Tue, 18th Jun 2024

A new survey from Storyblok has unveiled insights into the trust levels among business leaders regarding artificial intelligence (AI). The research, which canvassed 150 C-level business leaders, indicates a nuanced perspective on AI trust. A notable portion still views Apple Intelligence and OpenAI on a similar trust level despite Apple's well-established reputation for prioritising privacy.

Specifically, the survey shows that 39% of respondents trust Apple Intelligence and OpenAI equally, while 20% express less trust in Apple's AI capabilities. This data suggests that Apple, despite its privacy-first image, has not yet managed to significantly outpace OpenAI in addressing AI privacy concerns among business leaders.

Apple’s foray into the generative AI sector has nonetheless had a positive impact on AI adoption. According to the survey, 54% of executives now feel more comfortable with utilising AI due to Apple's involvement in the space. Moreover, 55% of business leaders plan to incorporate generative AI more regularly in their operations throughout the year.

Dominik Angerer, CEO and Co-Founder of Storyblok, commented on the findings: "While use of generative AI continues to grow, our research shows that even Apple can’t escape concerns over privacy. But as Apple’s massive customer base becomes used to seeing AI as part of their devices and digital experiences, they’ll expect to see it everywhere else, too. This will only build more trust in AI and create more demand for AI-powered experiences among businesses and consumers."

Growing comfort with AI is already influencing purchasing decisions in the business sphere. A significant 45% of C-level executives regard generative AI features as a very important factor when evaluating new software purchases. In contrast, only 20% consider these AI features unimportant in their decision-making process.

Angerer also pointed out Apple’s method of incorporating AI throughout user experiences: "Apple’s approach to sprinkling AI throughout the user experience instead of only making it a standalone feature matches how we feel AI should also be deployed throughout the entire content lifecycle."

The results from Storyblok’s survey signify a cautious yet burgeoning acceptance of AI technologies within the business community. While privacy concerns remain a pertinent issue, Apple's engagement with generative AI appears to be fostering a more positive outlook towards integrating AI into corporate strategies.
