Schneider Electric becomes founding member of Australian Sustainability Tech Council
Fri, 8th Dec 2023

Global energy management and automation firm Schneider Electric has announced it has become a founding member of the newly formed Sustainability Tech Council, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Australia.

The primary focus of this initiative is to combine industry effort and innovative technology to create a cohesive sustainability strategy with the intent of taking assertive action against climate change.

The Sustainability Tech Council aims to fast-track progress towards net zero through industry-wide collaboration. The Council plans to focus its initial agenda on essential areas such as green data centres, energy-efficient technology, e-waste management and supply chain sustainability.

Additionally, it is committed to ensuring training, advocacy, and standardised practices across all sectors. To democratise access to sustainability information for all, the Council champions transparency, education, and awareness for governments, enterprises, and small to medium-sized businesses.

The Council's member base incorporates leading companies and executives who are united in their dedication towards addressing climate change. Some of the select members who are partaking in this unique initiative, along with Schneider Electric, include prominent companies such as Cisco, Microsoft, Data#3, Moxie Insights, and NTT.

Joe Craparotta, The Vice President of IT Business at Schneider Electric, expressed enthusiasm regarding Schneider Electric's involvement in the Sustainability Tech Council. Craparotta conveyed the company's willingness to hold itself accountable to sustainability targets and its aspiration to share knowledge and insights to assist others.

Joe Craparotta said, "Schneider Electric is proud to be a founding member of the Sustainability Tech Council and to hold itself accountable to sustainability targets, as well as sharing its knowledge and insights to support others."

"We understand the challenges that organisations face when it comes to sustainability and view the Council as a significant step forward in impacting progress by making sustainability more accessible."

"I would personally like to acknowledge the foundation members and their commitment to our industry and the sustainability imperative, as well as the Schneider team that has been activating our membership," said Joe Craparotta.

This new initiative is anticipated to make a significant contribution in the areas of green data centres, energy-efficient technologies, supply chain sustainability and e-waste management. It aspires not just to maintain the sustainability conversation but also to make substantial and pragmatic progress by making sustainability information and practices more accessible to all.

Schneider Electric prides itself on driving digital transformation by integrating process and energy technologies, end-point to cloud connecting products, controls, software and services across the entire lifecycle, enabling integrated company management for homes, buildings, data centres, infrastructure and industries.
