Rubrik & Microsoft integrate to manage AI agents in 365 apps

Wed, 19th Nov 2025

Rubrik is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate its Agent Cloud platform with Microsoft Copilot Studio. The partnership aims to support organisations that are deploying AI agents within Microsoft 365, providing management, monitoring, and enforcement controls for IT and security teams.

AI agent management

Enterprises are increasingly using Copilot Studio to build AI agents, which automate business processes, access company data, and extend the functionality of Microsoft 365 applications such as OneDrive and SharePoint. As these custom agents become more widely used, Rubrik Agent Cloud will enable companies to discover, monitor, and protect these agents, aiming to reduce operational and security risks associated with agent-driven automation.

Rubrik Agent Cloud automatically identifies new agents as they are deployed, then monitors their activities and data access. The platform maintains audit trails by using logs from Azure and other sources, which track context around data, identity, and application activity. This gives organisations the ability to oversee agent behaviour and ensure compliance with internal and external policies.

Policy enforcement

Rubrik's platform includes a set of tools for defining and enforcing policies on agent behaviour. This includes access controls, action policies, and real-time monitoring capabilities. As AI agents operate within business environments, IT teams can use the platform to assess agent performance, prevent unwanted actions, and respond to potentially destructive behaviour.

Rubrik Agent Cloud also integrates with enterprise identity systems to support secure and compliant agent operations. The intent is to help companies scale their use of AI while maintaining centralised governance and reducing the risk of unauthorised data access or unintended automation outcomes.

Rollback and recovery

Announced earlier this year, Agent Rewind provides rollback capabilities, allowing customers to reverse undesired or destructive agent actions. Users can restore affected data and systems to a previous state without downtime or data loss. According to Rubrik, this targeted rollback covers both the timing and organisational impact of agent-induced changes, addressing concerns around business continuity and data integrity.

The selective recovery capabilities are designed to minimise disruption in the event that an agent performs an unwanted action or if a security incident occurs as a result of agent behaviour.

Availability

The joint solution is being offered through limited early access to select customers. Not all features are currently available, and Rubrik notes that the release of certain services or functionalities may be subject to change prior to broader availability.

"AI agents are proliferating across organisations at unprecedented speed, and are accelerating with tools like Copilot Studio," said Devvret Rishi, General Manager of AI, Rubrik. "IT and security teams alike are challenged to both multiply the use of AI agents while simultaneously managing and controlling the compounding risk they present. By seamlessly integrating with Microsoft Copilot Studio, we equip our joint customers with the clarity and control they crave - without piling on complexity or chaos in their IT environments."
