Nuage expands partner programme with self-service certification
Thu, 17th Dec 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Nuage Networks has added a self-service certification initiative to its partner program, providing easy verification that third party technologies will work automatically in Nuage SDN environments.

The software defined networking solutions vendor, which is backed by Alcatel-Lucent, says the initiative will focus on Layer 4-Layer 7 application delivery and security in OpenStack environments.

Nuage Networks says it programme is designed to provide a simple, fast way to assure enterprise customers that the micro-segmentation security policies, components and services they choose will deploy and operate automatically in a Nuage Networks SDN environment.

Sunil Khandekar, Nuage Networks founder and chief executive, says SDN overlays must automate IT across cloud data center infrastructure, while preserving contol, visiblity and freedom of choice.

“They must also integrate seamlessly with advanced security services to protect workloads in the cloud,” Khandekar says.

“By validating that our technology works alongside those of our partners – including leaders in network security – Nuage Networks provides peace of mind as our customers move their business applications to the cloud,” he adds.

CounterTack, Fortinet, GuardiCore, Palo Alto Networks and vArmour are among the vendors who have collaborated with Nuage, with their technologies – CounterTack Sentinel, Fortinet FortiGate VM Virtual UTM Firewalls, GuardiCore Data Center Security Suite, Palo Alto Networks VM-Series and vArmour DSS Distributed Security System – certified.

On the application delivery side, Citrix's NetScaler VPX and F5's Bit-IP LTM have become the first application delivery partner technologies certified.

Certified technologies are deployable in a Nuage Networks supported environment, can communicate with the Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Directory and can be inserted into the datapath in commonly used deployment models.

Nand Mulchandani, Citrix vice president of market development, says the NetScaler certification allows customers to rapidly build their own cloud infrastructure and operate it at scale using the best available components.

Meanwhile, Michael Xie, Fortinet founder, president and chief technology officer, says working with Nuage Networks is an important piece of Fortinet's SDN strategy, enabling the companies to help lead the migration to SDN and the cloud, while making security a priority.

Nuage Networks' reference architectures, based on OpenStack and the Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform, is available as a pre-designed, public-facing enviornment through the company's partner ecosystem. Nuage says self-certification of the elements of the architecture can be achieved in as little as two weeks.
