NextDC has continued its run of government wins, securing a $1.79 million Federal Government data center services contract.

NextDC has revealed little about the win, saying that due to the critical and sensitive nature of the infrastructure, details of the contract won't be made public.

They have however, revealed that the contract is for operation over a three year period, with options for extension.

Craig Scroggie, NextDC chief executive, says the deal is a significant achievement for the company.

“As a member of the Commonwealth Data Center Facilities Supplies Panel, we are pleased to be supporting the Federal Government's operations with our nationwide network of next-generation data centers,” Scroggie says.

The deal comes hard on the heels of a five-year contract with the Australian Electoral Commission and a six-year, $35 million, contract with the Federal Government – again, a contract deemed ‘critical and sensitive' with no detail revealed on the department involved or the nature of the infrastructure.

The data center as a service provider is currently assessing potential new facilities in Brisbane and Melbourne, given strong demand for capacity at its current facilities in those cities.
