FYI, this story is more than a year old

Global IT solutions provider Logicalis has snapped up Australian company Thomas Duryea Consulting, in a deal which creates a new power house in the Australian market.

Logicalis says the acquisition is ‘strategically important' building strength and additional scale into the company's Australian operation.

“Thomas Duryea's deep professional services capabilities in desktop, data center, storage and cloud are a perfect fit with Logicalis Australia's existing expertise,” Logicalis says.

Basil O'Raghaillaigh, Logicalis Australia chief executive officer, says Logicalis' strength in networking, unified communications and cloud will combine with Thomas Duryea's strength in desktop, data center, storage and cloud to create a ‘compelling value proposition for customers'.

“Together, we've got a very strong offering to take to our customers,” O'Raghaillaigh says.

The company says the combined businesses will strengthen the relationship with key vendor partners EMC, Dell, NetApp, VMware and Microsoft.

Andrew Thomas, Thomas Duryea Consulting co-founder and chief executive, says he sees ‘a significant opportunity' in becoming part of Logicalis.

“Being able to take our offerings into Logicalis' customers and introduce Logicalis' offerings to our customer base will help ensure that together, we become more strategically important to customers, and highly competitive in the market,” Thomas says.

Thomas Duryea, which employs 125 staff in Australia and has an annual turnover of about $70 million, designs, builds and deploys data center, data management, enterprise information systems, systems management and cloud environments for mid-sized and large enterprises, with capabilities across EMC, Dell, NetApp, VMware, Citrix and Microsoft.

Logicalis, meanwhile, employs more than 4000 people worldwide and has annualised revenue of more than $1.5 billion.

Financial deals of the acquisition have not been revealed.

Last night, Thomas Duryea Consulting was highly commended in the Advisory Partner of the Year category at NextDC's inaugural Partner Awards.

The acquisition is the fourth for Logicalis this year.
