LG launches AI-enabled washers & dryers with safety focus

Mon, 24th Nov 2025

LG Electronics Australia has introduced its Series 9 and Series 10 washing machines and dryers, equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities and enhanced safety features. The new range is targeted at addressing evolving consumer needs around convenience, efficiency, and home safety, with a focus on fabric care and resource conservation.

Product range

The release includes five new washing machine models in 9kg and 10kg capacities and four dryers in matching finishes and sizes. Both ranges come in Matte Black and Essence White. The washing machines are priced between AUD $1,299 and AUD $1,599, while the dryers range from AUD $1,799 to AUD $1,999.

Safety compliance

The company has pre-emptively incorporated a two-button start functionality into its new washing machines to meet impending safety regulations that will require dual-action start switches from mid-2026. This initiative is intended to enhance child safety in Australian households well before the industry-wide mandate.

"At LG, our Life's Good promise means creating innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of Australian families. At the heart of this new range is a commitment to making doing the laundry convenient and simple," said Shannon Tweedie, Marketing Manager for Home Appliance Solution Company, LG Electronics Australia.

AI-driven features

The new range centres on 'Affectionate Intelligence', LG's term for AI that works empathetically and seamlessly within the home environment. At the core of the washing machines is the AI Wash cycle, which leverages the AI Direct Drive motor system. On suitable loads, this system detects the weight and texture of fabrics to automatically adjust the wash motions for optimised fabric care. This technology aims to reduce user guesswork regarding cycle selection and wash settings.

Design and controls

The products are designed to integrate with modern home interiors, featuring minimalist lines and intuitive LED displays. All models feature touch controls and the dual-action start mechanism. The ThinQ app is also supported across the range, enabling users to control their appliances remotely and receive maintenance notifications.

Efficiency measures

A key focus of the range is efficiency, both in energy and water use. The Series 9 and Series 10 washing machines are rated with 5 stars for energy and water consumption. The dryers achieve a 9-star energy rating and use dual inverter heat pumps for gentle, low-heat drying. Both product lines are designed to reduce running costs for households that manage frequent laundry loads.

Convenience tools

The machines feature the TurboClean360 cycle, which uses water jets from multiple angles to wash lightly soiled loads up to 5kg in 39 minutes. On the Series 10 washers, the ezDispense system automatically allocates detergent and softener according to load size, which reduces waste and user involvement. Each refill can last up to 31 medium loads on preset settings.

Garment care technology

The dryer range includes Sensor Dry technology, which adjusts time and temperature based on fabric and moisture levels to avoid over-drying. Allergy Care cycles have also been incorporated, having met standards for reducing common household allergens. The Auto Cleaning Condenser is another feature aiming at reducing the maintenance burden for users by automatically cleaning the condenser during each cycle.

Market context

The launch comes against a backdrop of increasing regulation in home appliance safety and growing demand for resource-efficient products. LG has indicated its intention to support households seeking reduced energy bills and lower water consumption, while maintaining garment longevity and a seamless user experience.

"Our new range of washers and dryers blends AI with the safety enhancing two-button start. And through LG Affectionate Intelligence - AI that cares - we're making laundry more convenient and efficient, giving families back time, reducing household chore stress, and providing greater peace of mind. This allows them to focus on what truly matters, knowing their laundry is cared for with intelligence and care," said Tweedie.
