Lenovo reveals new Chromebook Duet range for education

Today

Lenovo has unveiled updates to its Chromebook range, including the Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11", 9") and the Lenovo Chromebook Duet EDU G2.

The new convertible laptops, each featuring a 10.95-inch display, are crafted to balance performance and design. They are versatile devices suitable for work, learning, and leisure. The MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor powers these Chromebooks and features an AI-enabled neural processing unit, promising up to 12 hours of battery life. Additionally, the devices are encased in a metal chassis and fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass to enhance durability.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet EDU G2 model is particularly suited to educational environments. It offers a rugged case and detachable keyboard that can withstand the rigours of daily classroom usage.

Benny Zhang, Executive Director and General Manager of Chromebooks in Lenovo's Intelligent Devices Group, said, "Modern society is constantly on the move, a challenge to traditional notions of productivity and leisure based on being stationary, while underscoring the necessity of having a portable and efficient laptop."

"The Lenovo Chromebook Duet and Lenovo Chromebook Duet EDU G2 powered by MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor with AI-enabled NPU are versatile companions for work, play, learning and everything in between."

The devices incorporate a kickstand that adjusts to user needs, facilitating easy transitions between laptop and portrait modes. The Lenovo USI Pen 2 is tucked into this kickstand, allowing for natural note-taking and sketching.

The Chromebook Duet (11", 9) is lightweight and portable, weighing under 1.2 lbs. and measuring 0.3 inches thick. It boasts a 2K 400-nit display for optimal readability and streaming, even outdoors. The MIL-STD 810H-certified chassis ensures durability by withstanding bumps and splashes.

The Chromebook Duet (11", 9) features the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, an AI-enabled NPU, and up to 8GB of memory. It provides on-device graphic AI processing and improved camera clarity, among other enhancements. A 5MP front camera with a physical shutter and an 8MP rear camera allows for privacy and high-quality images. The device comes equipped with dual USB-C ports for 4K display connectivity.

The Chromebook Duet EDU G2 also includes a Chrome Education Upgrade, enabling schools to manage devices via a cloud-based console. The device is built with a TPU case with keyboard protection, reinforced ports, and the ability to withstand accidental spills up to 360ml.

Lenovo's updates to the Chromebook range, particularly the Duet models, showcase a focus on versatility and durability. With the MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor and AI features, these devices cater to various user environments, including education and everyday use. The rugged design of the Duet EDU G2 highlights Lenovo's awareness of device demands in active settings. With competitive pricing and strong specifications, the new Chromebooks are well-positioned to appeal to consumers and educational institutions seeking reliable and flexible computing solutions.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet (11", 9) will be available in Australia and New Zealand starting at AUD $599 / NZD $699 from October 2024.
