Kinetic IT secures major government contract for digital transformation
Thu, 18th Jan 2024

Kinetic IT, a technology services provider in Australia, has bagged the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and the Arts (DITRDCA) contract.

As part of the agreement, Kinetic IT is set to provide end-to-end IT service solutions and support DITRDCA's digital transformation and technology uplift endeavours.

The suite of services offered to the Federal Department includes end-user support through national service desks and deskside assistance, infrastructure and network management services, which also cover the department's Microsoft Azure Cloud and legacy systems.

Additionally, the technology provider will also set up "Tech Bar"-like stations, enabling staff members to effortlessly receive IT support at various critical regional locations across the country.

Kinetic IT’s initial three-year contract with the Government Department is worth $23 million, with the potential to be extended for three additional years. To ensure optimal roll-out of the services, the project will involve 50 newly-recruited Kinetic IT staff members, stationed at different locations within the nation, such as Canberra, Hobart, Orange, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The deal brings forth Kinetic IT's first full-service Federal government contract.

This contract win follows the recent IT service and integration management partnership struck with the Australian Taxation Office in June 2023. The Australian-owned firm has successfully implemented similar comprehensive IT service programmes in both the private and public sectors, with noteworthy clients such as Qantas, WA Department of Education, WA Police, Victoria Police, and V-Line.

Speaking about this significant achievement, Kinetic IT’s Chief Executive Officer Michael North said, "Kinetic IT has cemented itself as the Australian IT services partner of choice for Federal and State government, as we harness strong demand for our depth of expertise and 100% Australian-based talent capable of servicing large-scale digital transformations, strategic cybersecurity and data migration projects."

CEO North further added, "We're looking forward to delivering a dedicated national support network in the coming months that enhances existing IT services with sturdy reliability, excellent customer service, high-security levels and, of course, a consistent digital experience for the user."

In operation from early 2024, the newly initiated support services are truly nationwide, stretching from the Cocos Islands in WA to locales in Tasmania. By leveraging Kinetic IT's national footprint and vast service heritage, the company aims to provide a high-quality ICT experience consistently to remote and regional centres, supporting the Department’s critical and complex operations.

The number of employees at the Perth-based firm is set to rise above 1,500 nationally in the next two years on the back of various customer wins. To date, Kinetic IT has a workforce of more than 1,400, underscoring its position as one of the largest IT service companies in Australia that is locally owned and operated.
