FYI, this story is more than a year old

Hitachi Vantara has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage for 2021.

It is the third executive year the company has been named a leader in this space.

Hitachi Vantara is the digital infrastructure, data management and analytics, and digital solutions subsidiary of Hitachi.

Products evaluated include the high-performance Hitachi VSP 5000 series, which ranked first in Online Transaction Processing and Application Consolidation, second in Server Virtualisation and VDI and third in Containers and Cloud IT Operations Use.

Hitachi Vantara says the recognition for the Hitachi VSP 5000 series is due to the product's strength in performance, manageability and resilience.

"From high-end to midrange, Hitachi Vantara's VSP systems share a common software architecture and operating system that provides customers with a simplified and unified storage management and protection experience," the company says.

"Combined with Hitachi's centralised, AI-powered software tools in Hitachi Ops Center, it provides improved IT operational efficiencies and lowered administration and support costs backed by Hitachi Vantara's signature 100% data availability guarantee."

Hitachi's EverFlex as a Service offers a flexible consumption model for capacity and data protection, bringing cloud-like agility to on-premise environments.

"Hitachi Vantara is extremely proud of the continued recognition as a Leader of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage as a result of our continued investment to help customers be data-driven," adds Mark Ablett, president of Digital Infrastructure, Hitachi Vantara.

"Our customers rely on Hitachi Vantara to continue pushing the limits of our best-in-class storage solutions, from the enterprise-ready VSP 5000 Series to our midrange VSP E Series. Paired with simplified management and the performance of our AI-powered Hitachi Ops Center, data-driven organisations can focus on delivering real business value instead of simply maintaining the status quo."

Meanwhile, Hitachi Vantara has released its roadmap for the future of hybrid cloud data storage at the event, The Road Ahead: Digital Infrastructure for the Data-Driven.

Hitachi Vantara president, digital infrastructure, Mark Ablett outlined steps the company is taking to extend its storage virtualisation capabilities to deliver a distributed hybrid cloud data fabric.

"Today we are excited to announce enhancements to our portfolio that will play a key role in the future of hybrid cloud data strategies," Ablett said at the event.

"Our new VSP 5000 series and E-Series hybrid cloud products deliver performance, consolidation, and enterprise-class data services seamlessly on-premise, off-premise, and for cloud-based storage.

"Clients want agility and performance to meet the demands of digital business, and we're delivering both."
