Hitachi Data Systems has its eye on the IoT opportunity and growing its ANZ enterprise business with the appointment of Paul Shaw as Hitachi Data Systems ANZ Northern Region sales director.

Shaw, who was previously Hewlett Packard Enterprise general manager of storage for Australia and New Zealand, is charged with growing the business for HDS enterprise IT solutions as enterprises move towards digital transformation and educating the market on internet of things opportunities.

Nathan McGregor, Hitachi Data Systems Australia and New Zealand general manager and vice president, says Shaw's strength as a ‘transformational' sales leader and his deep industry knowledge will help enterprise customers on their digital transformation journey.

Shaw spent more than 10 years with HP in Australia, after joining the company in 2004 as a senior solution architect. Other roles at the company included ANZ practice pincipal, building the consulting business ‘from the ground up', and enterprise sales executive.

He had previously worked with HP in London.

Other roles include stints at Rabobank as program manager, London startup system integrator Nitor Global Solutions and Ciba.

Shaw will be based in Sydney.
