Greencross streamlines pet profiles with Boomi integration platform

Mon, 17th Nov 2025

Greencross Pet Wellness Company, parent of Petbarn, has adopted the Boomi Enterprise Platform to support personalised services for pet owners and simplify IT operations across its network. The company operates more than 250 Petbarn stores, 140 veterinary clinics, and numerous pet care services throughout Australia.

Integration overhaul

The deployment of Boomi has allowed Greencross Pet Wellness Company (GPWC) to replace over 150 point-to-point IT integrations. This has resulted in a centralised view of data and interactions within its systems, reducing complexity for the IT team. According to GPWC, the transition from a fragmented approach to a single platform has improved reliability and freed staff to focus on higher-value tasks.

"Having a single point of visibility has completely changed how we manage integrations. What used to be a time-consuming and fragmented process is now centralised and reliable, giving our teams more time to focus on value-adding work," said Jamie Sparrow, Business Systems Manager, Greencross Pet Wellness Company.

Personalised pet services

The Boomi system underpins GPWC's digital pet profile initiative, which enables customers to build and manage profiles for their pets through the Petbarn app and online store. The pet profile connects data from retail, veterinary, grooming, and pathology systems, delivering tailored product recommendations and reminders for treatments based on each animal's needs.

This integration of data aims to enhance the customer experience by allowing a more unified and relevant engagement with pet owners at all service points, whether in-store or online.

"Personalising the customer experience starts with getting the foundations right. Having integrated pet profiles means we can deliver smarter services across every touchpoint, from tailored recommendations to timely health reminders," said Sparrow.

Reusable integrations

By standardising how integrations are developed and implemented, GPWC has been able to accelerate the release of new digital services. The platform encourages use of reusable blueprints for building connections between systems, which reduces duplication, shortens delivery timelines, and provides greater consistency in technology rollouts.

"Our investment in reusable integration patterns has dramatically accelerated delivery. We're able to roll out new capabilities faster, with less duplication, and greater confidence that they'll scale," said Sparrow.

Operational scope

Boomi supports integration across a range of GPWC's core business applications, including inventory, HR, warehousing, and digital customer-facing services. Fifteen systems are currently linked via the Boomi platform, supporting business transformation and daily operations across the company's sizeable staff and national reach.

Future priorities

GPWC intends to broaden its use of Boomi to support synchronisation of master data, introduce file orchestration, and improve structured monitoring to reduce manual intervention. The company is also planning for system-wide auditability, and disaster recovery planning to strengthen platform resilience.

"Greencross Pet Wellness Company has demonstrated that customer experience is only as strong as the systems behind it. From pet personalisation to platform resilience, Boomi is proud to partner with GPWC to deliver smarter, more connected experiences across its pet care ecosystem," said David Irecki, Chief Technology Officer, Asia Pacific and Japan, Boomi.
