Fujifilm launches advanced binoculars with stabilisation

Today

Fujifilm has announced the global launch of its new binoculars, FUJINON TECHNO-STABISCOPE TS-L 16x40 and FUJINON TECHNO-STABISCOPE TS-L 20x40, both featuring image stabilisation.

The TS-L 1640 and TS-L 2040 models offer magnification ratios of 16x and 20x, respectively, which are the highest in this series. The binoculars incorporate an advanced optical system with ED lenses, promising brighter and clearer observations. Despite the large 40mm objective lenses, the binoculars are designed to be compact and lightweight, suitable for activities such as bird watching, sports events, concerts, and marine leisure.

"The TS-L 16x40 and the TS-L 20x40 feature a high quality and ergonomic design making them comfortable to handle for extended periods," states Fujifilm in its announcement. The devices also sport an IPX7 water resistance rating, allowing them to function continuously for up to 30 hours with image stabilisation activated. This feature supports usage in challenging environments.

The image stabilisation system boasts a correction angle of ±3°, facilitating detailed observation. It is suitable for activities like bird watching on tidal flats and lakes or viewing athletes' and performers' faces during events. The incorporation of ED lenses (extra-low dispersion glass) aims to reduce axial chromatic aberration. "These binoculars feature ED lenses to reduce axial chromatic aberration for long-distance subject observation," Fujifilm explained.

The body design of these binoculars focuses on compactness and portability, with weights approximating 856g for the TS-L 1640 and 853g for the TS-L 2040. "The design matches with the sophisticated and high quality 'X Series' mirrorless digital cameras," Fujifilm noted, referring to the aesthetic compatibility with their camera line. A hand strap and a neck strap are included, with the hand strap attached to either side.

The binoculars' endurance is reinforced by a continuous 30-hour operational capacity, supported by two AAA batteries, and a 60-minute auto-off function to conserve power. The battery compartment is designed to integrate smoothly with the binocular's form.

With a water resistance grade of IPX7, the binoculars can be submerged in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes, ensuring usability in various outdoor settings.

The FUJINON TS-L 16x40 will retail for AUD $1,999, and the FUJINON TS-L 20x40 will be priced at AUD $2,149. These products will be available for purchase both in-store at Fujifilm House of Photography and online.
