Fujifilm introduces Australia's first open MRI machine

Altus Medical Imaging in Gladesville, New South Wales, now houses Australia's first Fujifilm Open MRI machine.

The Fujifilm Aperto Lucent Open MRI machine, installed by FUJIFILM Australia, represents a significant development in medical imaging technology in the country.

Designed to enhance the patient experience, the machine addresses common concerns with traditional MRI systems such as claustrophobia and difficulty of access. Its open design caters especially to patients with mobility issues, children, and those who suffer from claustrophobia.

Alongside the Open MRI, Altus Medical Imaging is equipped with an array of advanced Fujifilm technology, including the Fujifilm Amulet Sophinity Mammography system, and various CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray systems, establishing itself as a comprehensive diagnostic centre in Sydney.

Dr Behnam Moharami, Consultant Radiologist at Altus Medical Imaging, expressed enthusiasm for the new installation. The implementation of the Fujifilm Aperto Lucent Open MRI machine is beneficial for clinicians as well. The machine's reduced size and less restrictive design make it more accessible than traditional MRI equipment. It incorporates Fujifilm's latest diagnostic technologies, such as IP-Rapid technology and Auto Exam, which reduce patient time in the machine and streamline the scanning process without compromising image quality. The lower magnetic field strength and reduced build cost are additional advantages.
