Cloudera unveils accelerators to boost enterprise AI adoption

Mon, 16th Sep 2024

Cloudera has unveiled a new suite of Accelerators for Machine Learning Projects (AMPs) aimed at reducing the time-to-value for enterprise AI use cases. These innovations aim to facilitate AI integration and drive more impactful results for businesses.

A recent Gartner survey identified data analytics, cloud platforms, and generative AI as top technology investments for 2025 among Australian and New Zealand CIOs. Vini Cardoso, Field CTO for Cloudera Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the challenges and potential solutions for AI adoption in the region.

"Despite widespread interest in AI adoption, Australian organisations face challenges in measuring ROI and readiness for AI implementation due to limitations in data maturity, resources and skills," Cardoso stated. "A strong data foundation leads to trust in data which is essential to mitigate security and legal risks to bring comprehensive AI strategies to fruition. Cloudera's latest AMPs enable enterprises to democratise and optimise AI investments by shortening development time and accelerating the market readiness of their AI initiatives."

The AMPs introduced by Cloudera are designed to be end-to-end machine learning projects deployable with a single click from the Cloudera platform. Each AMP incorporates industry-leading practices for tackling complex machine learning challenges, facilitating seamless transitions regardless of where enterprises are running examples or deploying data.

"While almost every business is experimenting with generative AI, the technology is still so new that there are very few best practices for enterprises," said Steven Dickens, Chief Technology Advisor at The Futurum Group. "As a result, it's common practice for data scientists and AI engineers to build on existing examples when starting new AI projects. However, there are many drawbacks with this approach, including added security and legal risks. AMPs remove this ambiguity by providing fully built, end-to-end solutions that give data scientists a ready-to-go MVP for various AI use cases that are proven to be effective and able to quickly drive value."

The six AMPs released by Cloudera include:

  • Fine-Tuning Studio: An application and ecosystem for managing, fine-tuning, and evaluating large language models (LLMs).
  • RAG with Knowledge Graph: Demonstrates powering a retrieval augmented generation application with a knowledge graph.
  • PromptBrew: AI-powered assistance for creating high-performing and reliable prompts.
  • Document Analysis with Cohere CommandR and FAISS: Showcases RAG using CommandR as the LLM and FAISS as the vector store.
  • Chat with Your Documents: Enhances LLM responses using context from an internal knowledge base created from user-uploaded documents.

Cloudera emphasises its commitment to making AI more accessible, highlighting that its AMPs are fully open source and include deployment instructions for any environment. This supports Cloudera's dedication to the open-source community and ensures that businesses can accelerate AI adoption and maximise the value of their data.

Dipto Chakravarty, Cloudera's Chief Product Officer, explained the benefits of the new AMPs: "In today's environment, enterprises are constrained with time and resources to get AI projects off the ground. Our AMPs are catalysts to fast-track AI projects from concept to reality with pre-built solutions and working examples, ensuring that use cases are dependable and cost-effective, while reducing development time. This enables enterprises to swiftly experience the productivity gains and efficiencies that come from AI initiatives."
