Bond University transitions to TechnologyOne SaaS solution

Mon, 20th May 2024

Bond University has successfully transitioned to the OneEducation Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution provided by TechnologyOne. This transition marks a significant step in the university’s ongoing strategy to enhance its learning experiences.

With a partnership spanning 25 years, the move from an on-premise system to a cloud-based SaaS model was seen as the logical progression in Bond University’s digital transformation journey. The final phase of this transition took place over a 72-hour period, involving collaborative efforts from TechnologyOne’s teams in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the UK, alongside Bond University’s dedicated business and IT teams. This ensured that the migration was completed within a critical weekend timeframe.

Unlike traditional on-premise applications, which can suffer from reduced speed and security when moved to the cloud, OneEducation is designed explicitly for SaaS environments. This design enhances efficiency and user experience. The solution’s Student Management feature will help Bond University sustain its high student satisfaction ratings by efficiently managing the entire student journey from enrolment to graduation, accessible across multiple devices and locations.

Bond University Registrar Louise Batchelor highlighted the benefits of this migration, stating, “Migrating our legacy platform to TechnologyOne’s modern SaaS solution was an investment into our future. It not only allows us to harness the latest advancements in technology but also ensures scalability, flexibility, and enhanced security for years to come. This strategic move positions us to better adapt to evolving student needs, stay ahead of industry trends, and ultimately deliver a world-class educational experience that sets our institution apart.”

The university's seamless transition to the cloud is viewed as a testament to the robust partnership between Bond University and TechnologyOne. The collaboration and expertise from both sides played a crucial role in the successful implementation of the new system.

Peter Nikoletatos, TechnologyOne Industry Director for Higher Education, expressed his enthusiasm for the extended partnership. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Bond University. This milestone not only solidifies our commitment to supporting the university's vision for innovation and excellence but also reinforces our shared dedication to providing students and staff with the tools they need to succeed in today’s dynamic educational landscape,” he said.

Nikoletatos also noted the importance of managing student relationships to improve engagement, academic performance, retention, and graduation rates. He stated, “Institutions like Bond University know that managing the student relationship isn’t just about getting them in; it’s also about keeping them engaged. Investing in a modern, future-proof student information system solution to help track student engagement and progression adds up economically.”

TechnologyOne has been a global provider of management solutions for universities for over 36 years and currently partners with more than 90% of Australian universities. The company reports that 99% of its customers have transitioned to its SaaS solutions.
