Big data, IoT driving MapR business

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Enterprise software company MapR Technologies is gearing up for busy times, as big data and internet of things become increasingly important for Australian businesses.

The company, which is a leader in Apache Hadoop technology for big data deployments, recently scooped both regional and global Cisco awards – winning Cisco's global award for Solution Innovation Partner of the Year, and also taking out the regional award for ISV Partner of the Year for Asia Pacific and Japan.

Justin Bock, MapR ANZ regional sales director, says the relationship between MapR and Cisco is ‘very close, especially in Australia where we have collaborated extensively'.

“Big data and the internet of things are clearly one of the hot areas for business technology in Australia right now,” Bock says.

“With the rise of internet of things and of everything, big data strategies will become increasingly vital for companies in the years to come, so this is why our two companies are conducting a lot of local initiatives together in Australia.

The two companies will be joining forces once again in June for MapR's Big Data Everywhere event which is expected to attract 100 Australian and New Zealand customers and partners.

The event is designed to provide partners and customers with insights on how organisations can use big data analytics to grow their business and find new growth and cost reduction opportunities.

In announcing the global award last week, Cisco Worldwide Partner Organization senior vice president, Bruce Klein, says it was a privilege to recognise partners for ‘blazing new trails and making amazing things happen for our customers on delivering business outcomes and true value'.

MapR works with Contexti and Servian as channel partners in Australia.
