IWD 2024: Beyond the Fast Lane: Women driving change in sustainable transport
In recent years, the electric vehicle (EV) industry has become a symbol of innovation and sustainability, offering promising solutions for tackling climate change. However, despite its advancements and environmental benefits, there's still a noticeable gender gap within the industry.
With extensive experience in marketing and public relations, I joined Scorpio Electric at the end of 2022 as Head of Marketing. Based in Singapore, Scorpio Electric is a leading electric motorcycle manufacturer dedicated to pushing boundaries and driving change in the EV sector. I'm proud to lead our efforts toward a future that's both sustainable and inclusive.
Diversity in Action: A Catalyst for Innovation
As a woman in the electric mobility field, I'm passionate about the intersection of women's empowerment and EV. At Scorpio Electric, I've seen how diversity encourages innovation and growth. Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond motorcycles to embrace social responsibility and gender equality.
The path to gender equality in the EV industry is complex yet brimming with opportunities for change. Women are increasingly leaving their mark across engineering, design, manufacturing, and marketing, reshaping perceptions of leadership in sustainable transportation.
Addressing Challenges, Embracing Opportunities
At Scorpio Electric, we're committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity. We recognise the importance of creating opportunities for women in STEM fields.
Fostering Inclusion, Driving Success
Historically, women have been underrepresented in STEM fields, posing challenges for entering industries like EV. However, initiatives promoting STEM education for girls and women are gaining traction. At Scorpio Electric, we actively support such initiatives and strive to create a supportive work environment where all employees can thrive.
Diversity is a catalyst for innovation. At Scorpio Electric, we've seen firsthand how diverse teams bring unique perspectives and ideas to the table, driving our company's success in developing cutting-edge electric motorcycles.

As we celebrate International Women's Day and reflect on our progress, we must recognise that our work is far from over. We must continue to advocate for gender equality, amplify women's voices, and champion initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the EV industry and beyond.
To my fellow women in the EV industry, embrace your talents and aspirations. Your contributions are invaluable, and together, we can continue driving positive change towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
