AWS and SUSE expand collab to boost SAP migration to cloud

FYI, this story is more than a year old

SUSE today announced the expansion of its relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

This will allow AWS to resell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications directly on AWS Marketplace.

AWS customers running SAP workloads on this platform will get support from AWS and SUSE and can purchase the enterprise solution on demand, paying only for what they use.

This expanded collaboration allows SUSE and AWS to meet growing customer demand for the agility and cost benefits of cloud-based business-critical applications.

“Tens of thousands of enterprises around the world, spanning major industries, count on SUSE for their mission-critical computing environments, including those running SAP workloads,” says SUSE vice president of global alliances Naji Almahmoud.

“This expanded collaboration demonstrates how AWS and SUSE are continually finding ways to enhance the customer experience for business-critical applications on the cloud. The marketplace can expect continued collaboration, which will enable us to meet and surpass customers' demanding requirements for SAP workloads on AWS.

The expanded collaboration lets customers benefit from on-demand pricing and reserved instances as they grow their SAP footprint on AWS.

Amazon Web Services general manager Bas Kamphuis says, “We are excited to extend our relationship with SUSE to offer SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications on AWS Marketplace.

“Our customers will receive Amazon Business support by default, providing a single point of contact. Further, the collaboration is designed to help customers deploy and scale SAP HANA workloads on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications more easily and at a more compelling price point.

Most SAP HANA customers use SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications as they develop, test and run production workloads and many large enterprise customers are currently using SUSE solutions to develop, test and run their production SAP workloads on AWS.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications also includes enhancements such as page cache management and kernel settings that are optimised for SAP workloads.

Customers can easily get started with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications for their SAP HANA workloads using the AWS SAP HANA Quick Start.

It helps to provision and configure the infrastructure required to deploy SAP HANA, often in less than an hour, using best practices from AWS, SAP and SUSE.
