Avnet is gearing up for increased internet of things demand, appointing Eric Williams to the newly created role of vice president of internet of things.
Williams is charged with developing and deploying a global IoT strategy, working across the distributor to design, develop and drive edge-to-enterprise IoT offerings.
Rick Hamada, Avnet chief executive, says customers and suppliers are asking the distributor to develop new solutons combining multiple elements of technology from the edge to the enterprise.
"In Eric, we have found an executive with global experience and a proven ability to design, develop and implement innovative programs with positive results," Hamada says.
Hamada says Williams has been involved in a variety of roles throughout the technology supply chain, from identifying new market opportunities to delivering results-driven channel programs.
"These experiences make him the ideal candidate to lead our IoT strateggy and supporting initiatives," Hamada says.
Williams spent nearly 14 years with Arrow Electronics serving in progressively advancing positions with the company.
Avnet says he also has extensive experience in leading large sales organisations and identifying and advising on mergers and acquisitions.
