Autonomation partners with Workato to enhance AEC service delivery
Australian-based Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) service provider Autonomation has expanded its service capabilities by partnering with enterprise workflow automation platform Workato. This partnership aims to enhance the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) offering and other platforms within the AEC sector by facilitating seamless application integrations, which are expected to make construction platforms more robust for the local market.
Autonomation's managing director, Adam Sheather, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership. "We strongly believe a big part of future integration will be centred on integration platform as a service [iPaaS] solutions, which is why we are thrilled to secure a partnership with Workato, the leader in its field," he stated. The collaboration is set to enhance Autonomation's ability to deliver a variety of new customer outcomes in the construction cloud industry.
Historically, Autonomation has grown by building bespoke integrations between different technologies in the AEC sector and enhancing Building Information Modelling (BIM) software. While these tailored solutions provided strong returns on investment for clients, they were complex and time-consuming to develop and required continuous investment to maintain. According to Sheather, iPaaS and automation tools like Workato's platform, which employs a no-code or low-code approach, are crucial for the digital industry's future. "They will help democratise technology, benefiting everyone," he added.
Autonomation has previously delivered SAP solutions for several customers in the AEC sector, addressing their cost management needs for construction cloud projects. The Workato partnership is expected to enable the automation of BIM solutions across multiple business units, streamlining the approval process and data entry in real time with full transparency. Additionally, the solution will allow more common data environments to be connected and synchronised, such as integrating Issue Risk Management, ERP, and Project Management Systems like Microsoft SharePoint.
Cameron Kahler, vertical director for building, construction, and infrastructure at Workato, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "We are excited to be partnering with Autonomation, with several members of its team officially certified as Workato experts with client projects already underway," he said. Kahler further explained the synergy between the two companies, noting that Autonomation's experience in the AEC sector, technical excellence, and progressive industry outlook aligns well with Workato's vision. "I look forward to partnering with them as we help businesses accelerate their automation journeys," he stated.
Autonomation's new service capabilities, bolstered by the partnership with Workato, are expected to deliver significant improvements for AEC businesses. The integration of Workato's platform will facilitate smoother application integrations and automated processes, ultimately enhancing project management, data handling, and overall project efficiency in the construction cloud industry.
Both companies anticipate that their combined expertise and technologies will provide substantial benefits to the AEC sector, allowing for more efficient and transparent operations on construction projects. The partnership is already producing tangible outcomes, with certified experts from Autonomation working on client projects.
