Australian doctors back AI health firm with AUD $2M boost

A group of top Australian doctors have supported Medow Health AI, an Australian company using artificial intelligence to automate medical reports, resulting in a successful capital raise of AUD $2 million.

Among the leading figures behind the capital raise are Chris O'Brien Lifehouse CEO and oncologist, Professor Michael Boyer, and renowned orthopaedic surgeon Michael Solomon. Their involvement stems from their firsthand experience witnessing the technology's ability to reduce administrative burdens for medical specialists and shorten patient wait times.

Medow Health AI was founded by Joel Freiberg, who, motivated by his own experiences as a Crohn's disease patient facing lengthy wait times, sought to address inefficiencies in referral and reporting processes. The technology is currently operational in private clinics, with plans underway to introduce it into public healthcare systems to assist in alleviating backlogs in elective surgery waiting lists.

The collaboration with health technology group Magentus integrates Medow Health AI's system into existing platforms like Genis and Gentu, used by the majority of Australian medical practices. This integration facilitates the recording and documentation of specialist consultations, streamlining report production and reducing clinicians' paperwork, thus improving surgical waiting times.

Joel Freiberg, Co-Founder of Medow Health AI, commented, "We didn't have to look far for investors with our early medical specialists customers already using the technology wanting to be involved in the capital raise."

Significantly, over 50% of the investment capital was contributed by specialist doctors, something Freiberg highlights as both a vote of confidence and a source of valuable strategic insight unique to this group of investors.

Freiberg noted, "Since September last year, Medow Health has been growing 50% month on month, and we expect that trend to continue as the company expands operations significantly in 2025, making a big push into New Zealand."
