FYI, this story is more than a year old

A new partnership in the works is set to shake up the enterprise storage sector across Australia and New Zealand.

The partnership, between Lenovo's ANZ business and DataCore Software, will see the companies bring software-defined storage solutions to the ANZ region - a move the companies say will ‘dramatically disrupt' the enterprise storage landscape within Australia and New Zealand.

The partnership will deliver products that combine Lenovo's hardware with DataCore's SANsymphony-V software and training.

The solutions, along with support and optional implementation services, will be distributed via Dicker Data and Avnet in Australia, and Ingram Micro and Westcon in New Zealand.

“Together, Lenovo and DataCore have created a software storage solution that is able to harness the full potential of today's server technology and provide a high performance, cost-effective alternative to traditional storage,” explains Rob Makin, group director, Enterprise Business for Lenovo.

“Our clients and channel partners will immediately benefit from this dramatic shift in price performance,” he says.

Jamie Humphrey, DataCore VP of Asia Pacific and Japan explains, “The enterprise storage market is in the middle of a major disruption, caused by the astounding improvements in price, performance and density that DataCore has achieved with Lenovo.

“Customers are rapidly shifting away from traditional storage arrays and towards software defined storage solutions built on Intel x86 platforms,” he says.   “This shift in the market isn't just about dramatic improvements in price and data center density, it is also an enormous leap in enterprise application output and performance, and the ability to easily manage data anywhere within the business,” Makin says.

“This is today's reality as servers become the new storage.”
