Trend Micro introduces AI-driven cyber risk management features
Thu, 25th Apr 2024

Global cybersecurity firm, Trend Micro, has launched AI-fueled cyber risk management functionalities into its flagship Trend Vision One platform, combining over ten technologies into one solution. This innovation facilitates effective handling of the entire cyber risk lifecycle, from discovery to remediation, an improvement on traditional tools' capabilities. The enhancement comes in response to an evolving threat landscape alongside the increasing impacts of breaches, meeting the demand of thousands of enterprise customers for simplified and precise risk management solutions.

The newly introduced AI-driven cyber risk management capabilities advocate proactive risk management. Offering the integration of several industry technology sectors into a single solution, they arm the security, cloud and IT operations teams with the necessary tools for risk management. This makes the process of managing the entire cyber risk lifecycle, including discovery, risk assessment, prioritisation and remediation, significantly more simplified compared to the legacy attack surface management tools.

Andrew Adams, an early adopter and an associate manager of information security at Xsolis, praised the new tool. He said, "Trend not only offers us unrivalled risk scoring, but also makes sense of telemetry better than anyone else. This allows us to contextualise and prioritise risk to take rapid remedial action and build cyber-resilience. As a leader in our use of AI in health technology, Trend puts us at the forefront of security."

Given the recent regulation focus on organisations’ cybersecurity posture and risk profile, corporate boards are increasingly seeing cyber risk as part of a wider business risk management strategy. In this regard, Trend Vision One's enhanced platform enables CISOs to communicate risk more effectively to business leaders and enables overworked IT teams with a centralised system for prioritising and remediating, offering unprecedented visibility.

According to Andrew Philp, ANZ Director, Platform strategy at Trend Micro: "Industry demand for visibility across the attack surface isn’t new. However, customers don’t want a stitched-together platform. They want true visibility and the ability to effectively assess risk. We’ve gone further still - enabling organisations not only to know where their most critical risks are, but also to mitigate and remediate them. "

The new cyber risk features, available through Trend Vision One Attack Surface Risk Management (ASRM), provides cybersecurity teams with precise and continuous risk assessment across their enterprise's complete environment. This advancement surpasses the conventional risk views and fixed assessments associated with point solution vendors and acquisition approaches.

Michelle Abraham, Research Director, Security and Trust at IDC, stated: "As part of the Trend Vision One platform, Attack Surface Risk Management eliminates blind spots to provide consolidated risk visibility and management. The addition of extended detection and response (XDR) and identity telemetry works to amplify the power of Attack Surface Risk Management."

Cyber risk management has become an essential initiative for enterprise business leaders, boardrooms, and federal agencies with the increasing volume and impact of breaches. The year 2023 saw record-breaking numbers of publicly reported data breaches in the US, affecting more than 353 million downstream victims.
